Karragh Arndt

Clinician

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts, Poetry, University of Minnesota
  • Master of Social Work, University of Alaska Anchorage

Karragh came to Juneau, by way of Minnesota, twenty three (23) years ago.  Though she misses the 10,000 lakes, tall prairie grass and almost nightly summer thunderstorms; she has come to call Juneau home.

Though her BA degree is in poetry, Karragh earned her teaching license and taught in middle school for more than 10 years.  More recently she worked in adult education and training; but she still maintains her love of poetry and the written word through her hobbies.  Karragh loves creative writing, reading, and puzzles (jigsaw, logic, crossword, and more!).  She loves to travel too; but when she’s in Juneau she likes to get out of doors with walks in the woods and campfires on the beach.

JAMHI is honored to have served as a practicum placement site for Karragh while finishing her Masters degree, and then hired her as a clinician.  In her practice, she uses lots of strengths-based approaches that help show every person she works with that they have worth and dignity.  Her professional interests are in attachment theory, humanistic theories, trauma (especially body-based treatments), anxiety and grief; and feels that where we live matters.  “I like living here in Juneau, where we are nestled between the mountains and the ocean and I think this environment impacts my care.”

Karragh is eager to help you use your strengths, values and resiliencies to become grounded (like the mountains) in your most authentic self, and to  use empathy, evidence-based interventions, and the things that interest you and make you happy to be fluid enough (like the tides) to grow into your most ‘lit-up’ self.
